Thanks to its beautiful, elegant look and soft ribbing, ribbed fabric furniture is back in vogue. Corduroy, also known as Bodega, Ribcord, or Ribcord, is a fabric with soft ribs that run lengthwise. Corduroy was already a trend in the 1970s, and the fabric is now making a comeback in fashion as well as interior design. It is not limited to one type. The fabric is available in all kinds of forms, from fine or coarse to wide or flat ribs.
Its high quality and robustness make rib fabric ideal for upholstering various types of furniture, such as a rib fabric sofa or armchair. Rib fabric furniture is available at Station7 in many different beautiful colors. Such as rib fabric dining chairs, which are making a comeback. This is not only because rib cord has a warm and refined look, but also because it is a soft fabric. Moreover, thanks to its fibers, a rib fabric sofa is highly resistant to direct sunlight and therefore stays beautiful for an extra long time.
Do you immediately associate ribbed fabric furniture with a rustic interior? This doesn’t have to be the case, because with the latest designs from Station7, a ribbed fabric corner sofa suits every style of home. Nowadays, there is a renewed need for warmth and coziness in the home. That’s why you see a lot of warm materials such as ribbed fabric, velvet, and bouclé in interior design. Natural tones predominate, in both light and dark versions.
Corduroy sofas or chairs can be easily combined with different interior styles. For a chic interior, a light, fine corduroy combined with brass and glass is a good choice. A rugged, vintage look goes well with coarse materials. A rustic style with white walls and furniture can be enriched with a coarse corduroy in a warm color. If you prefer an elegant interior style, a fine, light corduroy is the right match.
With Bodega, you can go in any direction. Corduroy can be a good basis for the rest of your interior and styling. Want to know which colors match your interior? Ribcord is a fabric known for its longitudinal ribs. The fabric feels wonderfully soft. Rib fabric is usually made from synthetic fibers such as polyester, polyacrylic, and cotton. The ribbed structure creates a rugged yet warm atmosphere.
Advantages of ribcord:
– Not prone to pilling.
– Soft yet sturdy material.
– Highly resistant to direct sunlight.
As with any fabric, you should be careful with sharp objects that could damage ribcord fabric, such as pet nails and trouser buckles.
Maintenance is important to ensure ribcord upholstery fabric has a long life. The fine raised hairs have a smooth structure and absorb less moisture and dirt than wool, for example. If you spill something on ribcord fabric, don’t panic. Take a cloth that absorbs moisture and gently dab the area. If necessary, you can blow-dry the area, which will also make the fibers stand up again. Wet, flattened fibers can create the illusion of a stain, when sometimes this is not the case.
Station7 has a special Textile Care kit (iProteqt) for the maintenance of its ribcord furniture fabric. The kit contains a protective spray. We recommend treating the ribcord furniture fabric with a protective spray before use. This provides extra protection against grease, water, oil, and other stains. In the unlikely event that a stain does appear on your ribcord corner sofa, you can easily treat it with a damp cloth.
In places where you often sit, ribcord fabric can develop a seat mirror, for example on your ribcord sofa. A seat mirror is flattened fibers that show a visible spot. But we have a solution for that too. To roughen up the fibers, use a slightly damp cloth and rub the fabric so that the fibers stand up again. You can also do this with a clothes brush.
If you have any questions about how to use rib fabric in your interior design or about the maintenance of ribcord furniture fabric, please feel free to contact Station7. We are happy to advise you in one of our stores or remotely via our customer service.
